2025 Lifetime Achievement

Larry’s roots in Scotland run deep — he’s even tracing his family line back to the year 960. A lifelong champion of Scottish culture, he has imagined and produced Scottish concerts and performances, spoken at countless events, and taught courses on Scottish history and music. His celebrated work includes the musical series Atlantic Seaway, which explores how traditional Scottish music shaped American country, folk, and pop. He is also active with Scots in New England and is a member of the board. Beyond his 48 years as Vice President at Berklee College of Music, Larry has lived a full and colorful life — from competing in Highland heavy events to serving with the New England Patriots, leading political campaigns, and supporting dozens of nonprofit organizations. And, of course, he co-founded Scots in New England, helping build the community we celebrate today.
