Host a Scottish Intern in 2026

The Saltire Scholars is a programme designed to find, grow, and connect ambitious students who have potential to become the future leaders of Scotland. The programme puts students on a year-long transformational development journey, offering 8-12 weeks of funded summer internships with host companies. This allows students from all backgrounds access to life-changing experiences and opportunities around the world.

A note from Natalie, a student from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow currently interning in Boston:
Hi, my name is Natalie, a student intern currently staying in Boston for the summer, all thanks to The Saltire Scholar Programme.
I am interning with the National Trust for Scotland Foundation USA and Scots in New England. Working alongside professionals who are deeply committed to preserving Scottish history and culture has not only enriched my understanding of my roots but also strengthened my connection to my homeland. While also getting a deeper understanding of the Scots American diaspora.
My time here so far has been transformative; I’ve received opportunities that I never would have thought possible, and I will be forever grateful to the team at The Saltire Foundation who made it happen. Living abroad was an experience I always wished for but never felt like a practical possibility. But thanks to The Saltire Foundation team who fully funded my trip, I’ve been able to fully immerse myself in the experience: exploring New England, dining out at restaurants, visiting museums and shows. Providing me with both professional and personal growth.
The Scottish community in New England have been so kind and welcoming, and I would love if future generations of Saltires could experience it too. To help the programme continue, please consider donating to help more scholars like me experience these life-changing internships.
